CordycepsIt brings across the rugged and jagged look to nature, but also the peaceful serene scenes of it. As part of the upcoming generation of adults, there are issues that we will grow up with, so why not embrace a small aspect of it.. I want to make people think about these things. By identifying such with a color scheme that consists of warm and cool tones of green and blue on the left, with a contrast of white, purple, and orange on the other. This Project has multiple facts, layers, and possible interpretations that can be dived into with their shorthand processing, which is why I chose the media I did. People will interpret it different ways based upon their current mindset, consciously or not. It expresses global warming and the extreme weather conditions.

Art Studio Spring 2020
Materials: Brayer, printmaking ink, linoleum cutters, linoleum jelly print, palette knives, carving board. I was inspired by the Australian wildfires and the progress of how much it has developed and gain traction on the global sphere. This piece shows the progression of the wildfires, which were caused by acts of arson, aided by the effects of climate change. The dry weather and winds didn't help and it was a tragedy to lose so much life to the fires and deforestation.. The piece resembles life, a breathing Earth, regrowing better than before. Despite the tragedies and global temperature rise. there are benefits, as life will continue to adapt to its respective ecosystem. If anything, Australia will grow back more luscious and vibrantly than it was before. My art hows the progress of the fires from September 2019 until March 2020.

Art Studio Fall 2019
Materials: Paper, ruler, gel, newspaper, and scissors. Iowa has been home almost all of my life, however, it has been mostly small towns with small opportunities here and there. Last year I got to experience the city life, I went to Urbandale High School and I lived in the City and had many adventures. It was amazing to have such experiences and I felt just right at home, like I belonged in a bigger city. You really develop when you try something in a new environment and push yourself. This piece expresses a part of Iowa that most people aren’t fortunate enough to experience or see. I was inspired by my photo shoots in the East Village want my piece to draw the viewer’s eye to the Cities in Des Moines that lead to the night skyline itself, as Des Moines isn't the capitol without these suburbs within. The color choices and text placement help convey those ideas to the viewer to admire the beauty of the city.

Spring 2019
Materials: Oil Pastels Top Left: Skyler Lewis
Top Right: Jenna Brady Bottom Left: Emma Bock Bottom Right: Bickley Riley We each had to split up the image and color it in this style in 2 class periods to work on. It was so much fun to work on this and see the warm and cool values we had to work with. The image we looked off of was in black and white and we were able to replicate it successfully in our own style and form with only red, yellow, green, and blue pastels to challenge us to shade the values. We worked as a team, thus bringing our own piece to the table., telling a story individually and collectively.

A Cordial GazeSpring 2019
Materials: charcoal, putty eraser, shading pencils This Artwork was my first ever time using charcoal for a project and the largest art piece that I have ever created with dimensions of 12"x 36". I was interested in the sophistication of a Lemur and how fluffy and delicate they are. They have fascinating eyes that when they gaze, it is hard to look away from, almost as if locked into a trance.
