Class: 2017 Art Foundations Year: 2017 Materials: Canvas, baby oil, oil pastels, paint This is my meaning behind this abstract art. This painting means after a door closes you always have an option of hope, which is open the door or jump, in which case is a mystery. You have to try things before you know what is going to happen even when you think that all hope is lost after wandering for what you think is forever. Artist Statement: " This peace brought the creativity and little kid out of me, even though I still had to be professional to a certain extent." I was inspired by how a simple color can bring out an object kinda like my own and my Mom's photography. I am fascinated with her artwork from high school She is a big inspiration as I am working on learning her talent and developing my own way to work. This piece really does mean a lot to me as it would symbolize the way some things work by how you have a door shut right into your face, but then one is left cracked open for you to find and open up that whole new world for you to discover. It would be right under your nose the entire time, you just have to keep believing and look for it, even when all hope seems lost.
Project 2: Text of Hope
Class: Art Foundations Year: 2017 Materials: Makers, colored pencils, printer paper, and glue. The meaning behind my artwork is that social media can be killer as there is no actual contact and that you can be someone completely else without the other person knowing. I cake a text with a smiley emoji when really I I want a hug and to be told everything will be completely fine. This shows the true but yet sad emotions people deal with through bullying or just a tough time. I decided to do this as I know how this is and have been there before whether it is someone close hurting or someone you never really know. "This is about how the world is viewed by people in different aspects and their emotions and way of expressing them can affect everything or have a mask like almost every single person when they go to School or post things on social media. You act different in front of attention."
Small Town Beauty
Year: 2017 Class: Art Foundations Materials: Makers, colored pencils, printer paper, and glue. For my 3rd Project, I spent over 1 year collecting these amazing photos of my small town Osceola. These photos show some of the awesome aspects of how beautiful a small Iowa town can be even as the yuppies think not. I had studied these photography books for almost 2 1/2 weeks now and I have noticed all of the skills I used from the Yearbook and my Mother to be able to take such jaw dropping photos by using the Golden hour, lighting, frames, color, and timing for these photos to turn out the way they did. I used my cellphone camera on most of these photos, but some of them I used with my Nikon. "I believe that anything can be possible as long as you are passionate and put your heart into it, Photography is mine and a photograph can fill a missing hole and open a window to the soul as the shear beauty or emotion can drown you or make you float in such a way almost nothing else can do except love. My aspect is to lift people's spirits and show the good things happening in this world before they disappear or go unnoticed" I was inspired by my mother and other photographers like the people I see on KCCI and most importantly my Mom as she takes beautiful photos as they are all peaceful and show meaning and tell a story before she has to even explain it with words, as they are absolutely breathtaking and could probably start her own business with them.
"Netflix or Party?"
Year: 2017 Class: Art Foundations Materials: Paper, Ink markers, and pure imagination My Topic just happened to be Underage Drinking and the dangers of it, In my piece I divided it into four different squares and the top two are if they drank, which results in stupid decisions like drinking and driving. Then there is the bottom two where it is really peaceful with a night of Netflix and food on the couch with bae instead of the alternative, drinking, the bottom right represents a typical spring night in the country with it's beauty and how they are still alive rather than in the accident above for the bad choice of drinking. There are a lot of biases upon this issue as they think we will always cause mischief if we have a small amount to drink or we will automatically drive and get into an accident. It would depend on where the liquor is at and how much they consume, food and alcohol wise to determine any of that. For example they could drink at the party from the peer pressure and the thought of how reckless we become every time and that is the way it is portrayed in everything from commercials, tv shows, and movies. There is nothing positive to think of because we think of things like car crashes, drug overdose, and a troubled past for someone. One way people can overcome this is by talking to someone about their feelings, avoiding the party, hanging out with other people who would prefer to not drink at a party, or just stay home and do the typical alternative now, which would be Netflix without chill and with Bae. There are mainly bad images associated with Underage drinking as it kills out youths by making only one stupid mistake, but there can only be a few good images as they are clouded by these negative images. There are things like teen pregnancies, STD's, Injuries, damage to properties, drunk driving, and saying things that aren't meant to be said. I was inspired by a show called 13 reasons why as not a lot of people care for it. It really hurt when a character named Jeff died and my Mom's Cousin who died in a car accident from that back in 2002. It hurts you and everyone else when you could rather be doing something else rather than risking you life for popularity.
